Today’s baking adventure: the apple pie recipe from the “Beat This!” cookbook. It has cinnamon in the crust, twice as much cinnamon in the filing than in other recipes, and then cinnamon-sugar spackled on top. The air in my house has been transformed into a giant cube of Good Smell, and I’ve been going around sniffing my pastry-scented hands all afternoon. Last year was the Summer of Ice Cream; I think this year might be the Summer of Pie.
