Jeffrey does not have ADHD.
Jeffrey has Asperger’s Syndrome.
We’ve suspected it for quite some time, so the diagnosis comes as zero surprise.
Any questions? I’ll be explaining more later.

I’m glad you have the diagnosis. I won’t pretend I know what to say, only that Jeffrey is Jeffrey. I know that you will forever be the best advocate for his strengths, his curiosity, his sweetness, his hilarity as well as his challenges.
Love, me.
So the ADHD medication wasn’t helping? I’d love to hear the story on how you went from the wrong diagnosis to the right one! What a relief to get to the right one!
I hope you are feeling good about the diagnosis and not overwhelmed. Do you know Tracy who writes on By Common Consent? Her personal blog is http://dandelionmama.wordpress.com/ . She has a son with Asperger’s. I also am working at my state dept of education in the Special Education division, and I sit right next to the Minnesota autism specialist if you would be interested in talking with him. Though I’m sure you are talking to tons of experts. But, I could set up a call if you think it would be helpful to get another perspective. My heart goes out to you. All the best in getting him squared away with what will be best for him.
Laura mentioned this to me when I visited her last week. I ditto Becca’s question – how did you finally determine the true issue? What’s the next step? I wish you and your family all the best.
